U.S. Outdoor Moves Location to Pearl District

Just more than a week since announcing its restructuring under bankruptcy, U.S. Outdoor, an Oregon fixture for 63 years, has relocated from its Broadway Location in downtown Portland, Ore., to the bustling Pearl District. U.S. Outdoor is now open for business at 600 NW 14th Ave, at the corner of NW Hoyt and NW 14th. U.S. Outdoor was located on Broadway in downtown since 1986.

While threatened by closure stemming from a combination of factors including COVID-19, multiple instances of vandalization and looting, and the underlying vagrant population challenges; U.S. Outdoor filed for a restructure under Chapter 11, Sub Chapter V. Neighboring businesses such as Daimler Chrysler, Air B&B, Banana Republic, Blue Star and Sauce Box have all made the decision to shutter their downtown locations, said the retailer.

“Like many other businesses located on Broadway, U.S. Outdoor has felt the mounting effects of Portland neglecting the downtown area,” said the retailer.

U.S. Outdoor said its efforts to regroup, restructure and re-enter the retail market aims to revitalize its shopping experience in order to best assist those who seek guidance and relatability before setting out on their upcoming adventures.

“Committed to the community we all live, work, and play in, our decision puts the safety, health and well-being of its employees, customers, the outdoor community, and business, first. Every day our employees were putting themselves on the line to stop theft and we were losing longtime customers who didn’t feel safe,” said U.S. Outdoor owner Ed Ariniello. “We had to either close the doors or make the move, it was that simple.”

The newly opened location in the Pearl District offers customers plenty of parking, safety, and an overall better environment, said U.S. Outdoor.
