Timberland Introduces 2022 Eyewear Collection Featuring Bio-based Materials

Timberland, in partnership with Marcolin, has introduced its Spring – Summer 2022 Eyewear Collection, with sunglasses and optical frames that reflect the brand’s heritage of performance, style and responsibility.

The collection introduces a line of frames bearing the Earthkeepers mark, signifying the product was designed from inception to reduce impact on the environment and integrate bio-based materials. The collection also carries the torch of Timberland’s Plant the Change commitment to plant 50 million trees across the globe by 2025.

To support Plant the Change, Timberland and Marcolin have partnered with Treedom, a company that promotes agroforestry projects globally. All trees are planted directly by local farmers and bring environmental, social and financial benefits to their communities. With each purchase of a Timberland Eyewear product, customers will receive a custom code and web page providing the ability to follow the story of their tree and watch its growth for three years

More than 60 of the new Timberland Eyewear collection is classified as Earthkeepers, containing bio-based materials made from the oils of castor beans. The castor oil plant is a renewable resource that replaces the petroleum-based oils typically found in eyewear frames. This bio-based material accounts for up to 80 percent of the new frames, and provides a comfortable, soft touch for long-lasting wear. Beginning with the new releases, printed on the inside temple is a precise amount of the bio-based composition, either 35 percent, 50 percent, 65 percent or 80 percent.

The collection is built around progressive looks in lightweight styles and modern colors. The look and feel comes through with Timberland brand elements including temple detailing inspired by the sole of the iconic yellow boot. All the sunglasses are polarized, with anti-reflective coating on select styles.

The Timberland eyewear styles are available at Dick’s Sporting Goods, Amazon, and in specialty optical outlets.

Several models are available now and others rolling out in December and January, 2022.
