SOLE Unveils 100% Recycled Cork Sandal

Years ago, SOLE began a journey to pioneer a closed-loop manufacturing process by reusing natural wine corks, a sustainable and renewable resource that has been underutilized in the past. In 2008, SOLE adopted ReCORK, North America’s largest cork recycling program today. With a network of thousands of partners and believers, the ReCORK program has planted more than 8,000 cork oak trees and collected over 75 million wine corks, reducing its carbon footprint beyond carbon neutral into carbon negative.

“By using recycled natural wine corks in our footwear, we are eliminating the usage of other harmful materials used otherwise in the production of footwear” said Mike Baker, CEO & founder of SOLE/ReCORK.

In a new footwear collection, SOLE is pioneering change once again by putting this same support in modern, low-profile sandals, some made with 100% recycled wine corks. The collection includes brand new Beach Flips; a line of splash-resistance Casual Flips, classic Sport Flips and post-activity, water-friendly Sports Slides. Unique features of the footwear include a metatarsal pad for an added level of forefoot support and increased toe circulation, a deep heel cup that prevents overpronation and a sturdy, yet supportive arch that prevents successive arch strain.

SRPs range from $60 to $80.
