OR Show Adds Tailgating Area

For the first time, Outdoor Retailer is joining forces with sister show, the Sports Licensing and Tailgate Show, to create Tailgating @ OR – an exhibit area for brands with “tailgating” products looking to get in front of outdoor specialty and sporting goods retailers. The Tailgating @ OR exhibit area will consist of an outside section of the Street Scene next to the Pavilions @ OR.

Exhibitors in this area represent everything from generators to grills and accessories to tents and shelters, say show organizers. The exhibit area is open to both existing OR exhibitors as well as new exhibitors interested in tailgating and outdoor activities.

Brands including, BioLite, Soundcast, Yeti Coolers and Wynit have signed on to participate, among others. Plans for the area include an Opening Night Party, cooking competitions and testing of new products, as well as a second night happy hour.

“There are vast crossover opportunities between tailgating and the outdoor community. Many sporting goods and outdoor retailers are adding tailgating as another product segment in their stores,” said Liz Crawford, Vice President, Group Show Director for the Licensing Group, and Group Marketing Director for Outdoor Retailer. “This new activation seemed like a natural fit for both audiences. Research conducted at Summer Market 13 was very positive among brands and retailers.”
Outdoor Retailer Summer Market and the new Tailgating @ OR convenes August 6-9, 2014 at the Salt Palace Convention Center, Salt Lake City, Utah.
