Crescent Moon Snowshoes recently unveiled a customized snowshoes program at the 2014 Outdoor Retailer Winter Market trade show in Salt Lake City.
Unlike companies that produce overseas with long production cycles, Crescent Moon handcrafts small batches of premium snowshoes manufactured exclusively in Boulder, Colo., so the brand can easily accommodate custom requests. In fact, customers seeking specific options to suit their individualized needs are already placing these orders directly through Crescent Moon’s production facility in Boulder and through participating retailers. This demand has prompted the brand to introduce a Web-based solution that will provide an engaging way for customers to experience Crescent Moon’s snowshoe offerings. The new customized Web site is expected to be fully operational in Fall 2014.
“Customization is the next step to further differentiating the Crescent Moon brand from overseas competition by taking advantage of our shorter production cycles,” notes Jake Thamm, president with Crescent Moon.
Customers can select from available frame shapes, binding types, traction systems, and colors for unique Crescent Moon snowshoes handmade to their liking. “The new site enables customers to view their designs in 3D before the final product is built to their specifications,” adds Tamara Laug, vice president of marketing and operations at Crescent Moon. “We’re also working on the ability to print custom graphics to the decking material to create truly one-of-a-kind snowshoes.”
Additionally the company will provide retailers with a custom order kit, including bindings, frame and traction options. The customer will be able to try on the various bindings and choose the one that’s right for them, says the company.
