ARVA Previews EVO BT Next-Gen Avalanche Transceiver

ARVA, a French producer of avalanche safety equipment, introduced its next generation avalanche transceiver: the EVO BT. This release is designed with modern features and a streamlined interface designed for use by all users.

An all-around transceiver, the EVO BT combines top-level performance and a user-friendly interface. It features a search bandwidth of 60 meters, multi-victim marking, EMI notification and other essential functions.

It also includes interference management software for maximizing device performance in search mode, in an environment that is experiencing electromagnetic interference. This notification informs the searcher if they can strategically reduce search strip width; reduced range is a symptom of electromagnetic interference for transceivers. The automatic return to transit function operates via a motion sensor, and is activated when the transceiver has not moved in a set amount of time.

Other key features include:

  • 60 Meter search strip width.
  • Group check mode to test transmit frequency and transceiver power.
  • Multiple burial indicator, which displays individual icons and a “+” when four or more victims are present.
  • Real Marking function to identify individual victims already flagged or located.
  • Three antennas to bolster precision during fine search.
  • Digital signal processing guides rescuer more efficiently toward burial zone.
  • Auto-test, to allow the device to run a diagnostic to verify that all main functions are properly functioning.
  • Backlit screen, which provides contrast in any lighting conditions.
  • Bluetooth connectivity for software updates, customization and 25-point diagnostic tests.

The transceiver is constructed of recycled plastic and comes with a recycled fabric holster. An ergonomically designed rotary selector makes it easy to operate even when wearing gloves. Additionally, the EVO BT is Bluetooth-enabled and offers connectivity for connections via the ARVA app, to receive software updates, customize settings and manage complete, at-home diagnostic tests unique to ARVA.

The new EVO BT avalanche transceiver will be available at specialty retailers worldwide beginning Fall 2024.
