Turtle Fur Headquarters Runs on 100% Renewable Resources

The Turtles’ Nest, Turtle Fur’s headquarters, is now 100 percent run on renewable sources. Turtle Fur’s power is supplied by Morrisville Water & Light (MW&L).

According to the VT Public Power Supply Authority (VPPSA), 59 percent of MWP’s power comes from renewable sources. Turtle Fur has purchased Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) through an authorized reseller to source the additional 41 percent needed to offset the difference. That is all in keeping with Turtle Fur’s mission statement that defines its commitment to operating all facets of its business as sustainably as possible.

Since 2007, Turtle Fur’s Green Team has been making its workplace and all facets of the business more sustainable. In recent years, Turtle Fur has increased its offering of sustainable fabrics and recycled knit hats, introduced 100 percent carbon offsetting for shipping of eCommerce orders, significantly reduced product packaging, and more.

The company also has made strides in understanding its overall impact through measuring its Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions for 2019 and 2020. By 2022 the plan is to have its Scope 3 emissions measured.
