Somewhere Sunny Releases Sustainable, Protective Swim, Active Wear

Imploring people to ‘find your sun’, Phoenix-based Somewhere Sunny, has become the newest eco-friendly sun wear clothing brand.

Founder Shea Beck explained in a write-up appearing in AZ Big Media that he looks to bring the latest in sustainably produced and comfort-forward apparel to the sun-seeker in all of us, while he reduces the environmental footprint by limiting fabric waste and using recycled and renewable materials and organic fabrics in each design.

The brand was launched with a full line of men’s swimwear, which on average is made of 90 percent recycled plastic water bottles. Each pair of swim shorts uses approximately 12 single-use, ocean-bound plastic water bottles and the remaining material is made out of sustainable bamboo-based or organic fabrics.

The recycled shorts are available in numerous colors and patterns, with inseams from six to eight inches and all have built-in, fast-drying boxer brief liners.

Materials and supply chain sourcing are tracked closely to ensure the products are sustainable, ethically sourced and have limited factory impact.

Somewhere Sunny’s ‘people and planet over profits’ focus is certified by 1% for the Planet, which means the apparel company commits one percent of its annual sales or salaries to environmental causes.

“When concepting Somewhere Sunny, I wanted to bring to life a brand that exuded positivity and light, while giving consumers the confidence in knowing they are purchasing a product that is truly sustainable,” Beck told AZ Big Media. “While we know we are just a clothing brand, our hope is that our customers find that ray of sunshine and happiness every time they put on their swim shorts and prepare for their favorite activity.”

Beyond the sustainable manufacturing of the products, the apparel has an ultraviolet protection factor (UPF) of 50, providing sun protection to customers with its swimwear, long-sleeve shirts, hoodies and more.
