PeopleForBikes Adds 60 New Member Companies

With the rise of cycling connected to social distancing measures, PeopleForBikes is pleased to report that 60 bike businesses have joined the industry coalition as new members since the organization merged with the Bicycle Product Suppliers Association (BPSA) in 2019. These new additions were not previously members of either PFB or BPSA. In total, PeopleForBikes now represents 271 supplier brands united in creating a world where bicycling and bike businesses thrive.

“If the last few months have taught us anything, it’s that we’re stronger together — even if our community is, for the time being, a virtual one,” said PeopleForBikes chief operating officer Jenn Dice. “Thank you to the many industry leaders who volunteer to serve and help shape us into a more effective industry organization. We have a lot of work to do and coalition membership dollars are the backbone of this support.”

Following the merger, PeopleForBikes created four new committees: Legislative, Legal and Safety, E-Bikes, Research and Statistics, and Membership, Education, Marketing and Events. PeopleForBikes also established a new Sustainability Working Group. PeopleForBikes welcomes all current or prospective coalition members to participate in these meetings and play a role in shaping our industry direction and programs.

More information about getting involved is available at https://peopleforbikes.org/about-us/about-peopleforbikes/board/.

“We know this is an incredibly difficult time for many in the bike industry,” said Dice, “but we’re also heartened to see a path forward that positions bikes as a solution for many of the problems facing society. Our team will continue to work tirelessly to represent bike businesses for stimulus recovery and tariff relief, make sure that bikes are a part of any resiliency and mobility planning, and lobby for connected bike infrastructure and safer streets.”

“Intense Cycles has always been about the evolution of the sport,” said founder of Intense Jeff Steber. “As we grow our business in both the traditional and e-bike categories, PeopleForBikes is instrumental in helping us in both the business side of the industry and the advocacy side of the sport. We see them as a partner in our success and the overall success of the U.S. cycling market.”

“We think it’s monumentally important to be joining our industry trade association,” said Gloria Hwang, founder and CEO of Thousand Helmets. “We’re proud to be a part of creating the solution for a healthy bike business, healthy consumers and a healthy planet.”
