New Online Dealer Emphasizes Independent Brands

In time for the holidays, Jackson Hole-based Garage Grown Gear is launching an outdoor specialty online store and digital destination that focuses on gear made by independent brands. Many of these “garage brands” feature Made in the USA products and take steps to minimize environmental impacts, says the company.

“We offer people an alternative to the homogenized, compromised gear served up by big box brands that would rather pinch pennies than make the best gear,” said Amy Hatch, the company’s CEO and founder. “The companies featured in our store are hand-selected; it’s a curated collection.”

Among the many independent and innovative brands, Garage Grown Gear sells boats that roll up to the size of Nalgene water bottle, ultralight backpacks made from sailcloth in Maine, and stylish winter hats designed by a then-high school student.

“We scout for today’s innovators and tomorrow’s icons,” Hatch said. “It’s our passion to connect you to these brands.”

“Garage Grown Gear helps us reach new customers we might not otherwise find,” said Stephen Kitto, CEO of Liquid Hardware. “It also helps independent brands like us have a stronger voice in the highly competitive outdoor industry.”
