Kimeze Focuses on Glasses for People of Color

An innovation in eyewear, Kimeze was born of a “lightbulb” moment when its founders realized eyewear companies do not design sunglasses and opticals for black and brown customers like them.  Combining craftsmanship with luxurious materials, Kimeze is a revolutionary eyewear brand with statement style, everyday versatility and exceptional quality at its core.

The London-based brand, started when sisters Clare and Christina Kimeze discovered that 1 billion people had been forgotten when it came to designing the fit of sunglasses and glasses. Through their research, they were shocked to discover that most glasses and sunglasses were designed for Caucasian features, and there has been an East Asian fit since the ‘80s, but there was nothing on the market specifically designed for them. So, the sisters founded Kimeze to address this and to make sure more people have choices in their eyewear purchases.

Handmade in Italy, the collection is inspired by London, Africa and the importance of imagination in envisioning our complex selves. Design and creative direction come from co-founder Christina Kimeze, a talented artist whose work inspires the questions of interiority and belonging.

While Kimeze started off being about the fit, it has become about delivering an expertly crafted, fashion-forward range that is fit for everyone. Kimeze designs innovative, fashion-forward glasses to fit all customers.

Last summer, Kimeze launched NET-A-PORTER, a milestone for the eyewear brand that is set to launch its SS23 collection in New York City.
