KASK Presents Omega Ski Helmet

Keeping as cardinal points the reduction of aerodynamic drag and the safety of the athlete, KASK has developed Omega, the result of years of research in the wind tunnel and developed with the collaboration of elite athletes in the disciplines of downhill, giant slalom and super-G.

Omega represents the helmet with the best aerodynamic response among the racing helmets in its category.

The watchword in the head of the athletes who face downhill, giant slalom and super-G races is one: speed. This is flanked by safety, essential when speeding on the snow reaching 150 km/h. A combination of maximum possible speed and guarantee of high protection was at the center of the development that led KASK in the design of Omega, a high-performance helmet aimed at agonists in the fast tests of alpine skiing.

When KASK engineers started the project of a new helmet for the fast disciplines of skiing that was aerodynamic, they drew on the experience developed in cycling, and in time trials where the athlete’s helmet must integrate into the cyclist’s structure to better cut through the air.

Years of laboratory tests at Scandinavian universities and hundreds of scans of athletes’ race posture at top speed have produced mathematical models. These models have guided the development in the search for the best shape of the helmet, to minimize aerodynamic resistance: it is from this research and development work that the new Omega is born, the helmet with the best aerodynamic response among the racing helmets in its category.

In the top-of-the-range version entirely made of carbon fiber, KASK Omega boasts a featherweight of 600 grams (in size M) and in this sense, lightness has been evaluated by athletes as an important aspect because it does not limit movements during the competition. Of course, there have been no compromises in terms of protection: the Omega helmet complies with all the FIS safety certifications adopted in the World Cup.

However, the element of uniqueness of the helmet lies in the design that the technicians wanted to adopt, and that represents the state of the art in terms of aerodynamics in the fast tests of alpine skiing.

In addition to the black carbon version intended for elite athletes, the Omega family is available in three color variants in the thermoplastic option with the colors white, yellow fluo and blue, with the same aerodynamic and safety characteristics, but with a small difference in weight (size M weighs 660 grams).

Finally, among the details that characterize the KASK Omega are an integrated hook for the ski mask and the synthetic leather chin strap.

The Omega product family will be available on the market in winter 2022/23 in five different sizes, with a recommended retail price of 800.00 Euros for the carbon version and 350.00 Euros for the thermoplastic version.
