IPF, World OCR Join Forces

The International Parkour Federation (IPF) and World OCR have agreed to a single, collaborative governance framework to further the development and growth of obstacle sports worldwide.

A memorandum of understanding (MOU) was signed by both parties citing key priorities and steps to ensure the growth and harmonization of obstacle sports.

The agreement focuses on “SafeSport functions,” anti-doping efforts, international events, national federation relations, sanctioning, gender representation, diversity ,and collaborative marketing initiatives. The current sub-sports of Parkour, Ninja Competitions, Obstacle Course Racing and Adventure Racing will remain self-governing as technical disciplines, each run by independent technical committees with their own technical congresses.

“The best way to grow obstacle sports and improve the sport at all levels is to do so together,” said IPF president Victor Bevine. “Unification of the sub-sports under a single governance umbrella will serve to further evolve Obstacle Sports across the world.”

“This initiative mirrors the organizational structures of aquatics, cycling and athletics by providing representation and governance by and for each sub-sport.” said World OCR president, Ian Adamson. “The collaboration advances our goals of providing sport for all and meeting the intent of the International Olympic Committee’s Agenda 2020 and the Olympic Movement.”

The unified federation said it will establish a culture of sustainability and social responsibility in events, and in the community.
