Gordini Installs Solar, Invests in Community, Brand’s Future

Gordini, a heritage outdoor brand specializing in cold-weather gear, has partnered with locally owned and operated Green Mountain Solar to install nearly 500 solar panels at its Essex Junction headquarters.

The investment in the solar power system will allow Gordini to reduce its environmental footprint and contribute to helping Vermont reach its renewable energy goals.

“Installing a solar panel system was really an obvious next step for us after expanding our space in Essex Junction, where we’ve been for more than two decades,” said Gordini President David Gellis. “We’re diligently working to reduce our environmental impact, and it was important for us to partner with a local company on this project that understood our solar location potential and our long-term community goals. The rooftop array will create an excess of power that will contribute to Vermont’s energy grid, helping to increase the overall renewable energy profile within our state.”

Gordini’s solar array system will generate 221,280 DC watts for an annual production of 222,060 kWh. The system should offset about 110 percent of the annual electric bill with the Renewable Energy Credits (the attribute that qualifies electricity as “green”) transferred to the utility to help make Vermont’s grid cleaner for all consumers.

Gordini’s solar array went live at the beginning of August. The solar investment will offset monthly energy costs. Within eight years, Gordini’s investment in renewable energy will reimburse the cost of the project.  Gordini is proud to share its energy output with its surrounding community and will display a solar dashboard at its headquarters so that all employees can track and monitor solar production.
