Big Agnes Earns Responsible Down Standard Certification

Big Agnes, the Steamboat Springs Colorado-based outdoor equipment brand, has received its Responsible Down Standard (RDS) brand certification.

While the brand has purchased RDS down for all its down sleeping bags and apparel for more than five years, this certification assures customers its down has documented chain of custody information throughout the entire supply chain.

“We’re incredibly proud to officially be certified by the highest sustainable down certification available,” said Bill Gamber, co-founder and president of Big Agnes. “Sourcing responsible materials is constantly at the forefront of our designs, and this certification continues to showcase our commitment. This is another big thing for us to celebrate this year, alongside our 20th anniversary and our recent backpacks launch announcement!”

The Responsible Down Standard, established in 2014, is an international, voluntary program that promotes animal welfare by ensuring down and feathers come from animals that have not been subjected to any unnecessary harm. The certification monitors the chain of custody and ensures that RDS down standards are maintained from the farm to the final product.

The certification is the latest sustainable commitment from Big Agnes, which launched its TwisterCane BioFoam Pad and Solution Dyed Fabric Tents earlier this year, offering a multitude of sustainable benefits over traditional sleeping pads and tents.
