With the installation of FUZE Biotech’s proprietary application machinery at ALLIED Feather + Down’s China-based facilities, ExpeDRY fast drying down insulation soon will be available to brands who prefer to source and manufacture in Asia, increasing the availability and lowering the cost of this next generation hydrophobic material.
Created in partnership with FUZE Biotech, the chemical-free, gold particle-infused ExpeDRY down outperforms traditional hydrophobic down in real-world situations and is poised to become the benchmark in high-performance down insulation.
“Since launching at our headquarters in Los Angeles, the ExpeDRY finishing process will soon be up and running in our China-based processing facilities, making ExpeDRY down available to brands who prefer to source their down and have processed in China,” said Matthew Betcher, Creative Director with ALLIED. “With the implementation of this new technology in our Chinese facilities, the price of ExpeDRY will rival that of traditional hydrophobic down. Since 80% of the world’s high-quality down comes from China, many of our partners rely on this region for their down needs. This implementation will now allow significantly more brands to adopt this better-performing option.”

Available to ALLIED partner brands, ExpeDRY is a chemical-free solution that maintains the warmth and compressibility that down is renowned for, while performing better in extreme conditions. ExpeDRY also requires less energy to wash and dry than traditional down products.
ExpeDRY incorporates FUZE’s non-ionic, permanently bonded gold particles, applied to the down cluster. These particles work to increase the evaporation rate of water at a molecular level, without the need for heat, more easily keeping the wearer dry and warm.
