Accelerating Circularity Unveils Recycled Textile T-shirts

The mission of Accelerating Circularity is to catalyze new supply chains and business models to turn spent textiles into mainstream raw materials.

ACP is an action-oriented nonprofit focused on textile-to-textile recycling at a commercial scale through a collaborative, stake-holder lead approach.

“These T-Shirts demonstrate what is possible through the collaborative efforts of our partners. The 100 percent cotton Tees were made from 26/1 yarn by Giotex from a combination of recycled post-consumer textiles, post-industrial textiles, and virgin cotton.” said Karla Magruder, founder, and president of Accelerating Circularity. “The touch and physical performance e.g., shrinkage, pilling, etc. is comparable to 100 percent virgin cotton and therefore can be scaled commercially as well as recycled in future. The feedstock for the post-consumer textiles was from Bank and Vogue and exemplifies Putting Textiles to Good Use TM.”

“Giotex is a founding member of Accelerating Circularity,” said Angela Boswell, Accelerating Circularity US Project Director.” We introduced them to Bank and Vogue as a supplier of high- quality post-consumer feedstock for recycling. ACP is a do-tank, that demonstrates that textile-to-textile circular systems are feasible and worth engaging in for the entire supply chain.”

Accelerating Circularity is in the process of running commercial-scale trials of textile-to-textile recycling for denim, tee shirts, fleece, workwear, and towels in partnership with waste collectors/sorters, recyclers, mills, brands/retailer companies in the United States and Europe.
