Start-up Brand Artilect Enters Performance Apparel Market

A new outdoor performance brand dubbed Artilect was introduced today to the global marketplace, including a sales network focused on partnering with select retailers for the 2021/22 season. Founders describe the brand as a “creative outdoor apparel studio focused on elevating human performance in any environment.” The brand will meld technology, style and function with sustainability as a core principle.

Artilect was founded by Trent Bush and Corry Taylor. Bush started his first brand, Twist Clothing Company, in the early 1990s and has since worked with many outdoor and lifestyle apparel brands. Taylor is founder, CEO and managing director of Bradshaw Taylor, an outdoor, active and lifestyle brand house specializing in building leading brands in the European market. Bush and Taylor also are co-CEOs and owners of Artilect.

“Ultimately, it’s about building a radically different brand that will both utilize the latest new technologies to bring the best products to outdoor enthusiasts who connect at a deeper level,” said Bush. “We are developing innovative technologies to help reshape the outdoor industry from product innovation to sustainability and to making the outdoors more accessible to everyone.”

In its first season, Boulder, Colo.-based Artilect will launch with design leadership from Bush and industry veteran Erica Cahn. The core of the Artilect line is the A/SYS apparel system. Each individual style will offer performance as a standalone, said the company, but performance is optimized when items are combined in the Artilect system.

A preview of Artilect’s first product offering will be available to retailers this month, with the first line available in stores for Fall 2021.
