According to numerous reports, Sports Authority is planning to close about 140 stores. The move is in relation to news in early February that Sports Authority was in talks with lenders to reorganize in Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings as it faces a default on its debt. Sport Authority said it is working on a deal with bondholders to avoid the filing.
The national sporting goods chain currently operate about 450 locations.
