SOG Specialty Knives Acquired by GSM Outdoors

GSM Outdoors, a hunting and shooting sports specialist, acquired SOG.

Established in 1986, SOG Specialty Knives has built its reputation with its pragmatic tactical designs. “SOG [is] synonymous with austere-duty knives intended to meet the needs of defense professionals,” GSM CEO Eddie Castro stated. “The name is instantly recognized by military, first responders, and blade enthusiasts for their high-quality craftsmanship and reliable performance.”

SOG started off specializing in fixed blades aimed at defense and survival professionals. But it has since diversified its products with folding knives, multitools, and everyday carry.

OG’s steady expansion through the years has allowed it to maintain its reputation. Now, buyers recognize it as a producer of superior, lasting gear. Recently, the company branched into ultralight carbon fiber pieces.

“Our acquisition of SOG represents an important expansion of the GSM family of brands,” Castro said, “and we look forward to taking the brand to that next level of consumer support and product innovation.”

GSM will continue offering classic SOG knives and tactical tools at SOG’s website. To see the rest of GSM’s outdoor and tactical product lines, head to GSMOutdoors.
