Sherrill Acquires Maine Based Sterling Rope Company, Inc.

Sherrill, Inc., a Greensboro, N.C.-based arborist and climbing gear company and owner of treestuff.com and SherrillTree.com, has acquired the Maine life safety rope manufacturer, Sterling Rope Company, Inc. The acquisition will further vertically integrate the Sherrill manufacturing and distribution model within the work and recreational climbing industries, said the company. There are no plans to change the day-to-day operation of Sterling and the company will stay in Biddeford, Me.

“We have such high respect for the Sterling brand and products. We are 100% committed to grow, build and invest further in Sterling in the coming years at their Biddeford, Maine facility, and continue to innovate in this important category,” remarked Tripp Wyckoff, Sherrill’s CEO and president.

“If we could pick the perfect company to be acquired by, it would be Sherrill. Our markets are very complementary and only good things can come from working more closely together on sales, product distribution, innovation and business efficiencies,” added Carolyn Brodsky, Sterling’s CEO and founder.

Sherrill currently distributes Sterling Rope products through their distribution business, SHERRILLtree.com and Treestuff.com.

Sterling has been supplying climbers, climbing gyms, arborists, search and rescue personnel, fire departments, industrial safety and the military for more than 25 years with products proudly made in the USA.
