Sargent Takes Lead at SIA

SnowSports Industries America (SIA), the snow sports industry’s member-owned trade association, announced the instatement of Nick Sargent as SIA President. Sargent, who joined the organization in August 2015 as SIA’s incoming President, has spent the last five months working alongside exiting President David Ingemie.

Prior to beginning his transitional role as SIA’s incoming President, Sargent led partnership marketing initiatives for Burton Snowboards as Vice President of Global Business Alliance, where he grew the brand’s globally recognized partner portfolio while expanding its global alliances.

“Nick holds a background in all aspects of the snow sports industry, which has proved to be extraordinarily beneficial in helping to strategize future growth,” said Bob Gundram, chair of SIA’s Board of Directors, and CEO of C3.

Sargent’s first step in evolving the organization’s support of the industry was made in December, when SIA announced its plans to reinvent the Snow Show. Under Sargent’s lead, the 2017 SIA Snow Show dates will be shifted to the first Tuesday of December, transforming the Snow Show into the industry’s only international preview show.

Moving forward, Sargent will use his expertise in the business behind the snow to continue to connect SIA’s growing network of brands and products to snow sports retailers and connoisseurs and utilize SIA’s unmatched data and research, says the group. Additionally, Sargent will focus on expanding SIA’s support and leadership position, driving industry growth 365 days of the year.

“I’m honored and excited to formally step into the role of SIA President and join an incredibly enthusiastic team of people committed to progression,” said Sargent. “There is so much room for growth in our industry, and I’m thrilled to come on board at such a pivotal moment in the business.”
