Salewa Introduces the Puez Trekking Collection

Salewa North America – a mountain sports company that was born and bred in the Italian Dolomites and owned by the Oberalp Group – unveiled its Puez Trekking collection, ahead of the Spring/Summer 2024 season. This catalog features new items that are aimed primarily at the younger generation, with its own distinct requirements, approach to style and way of moving through nature and the mountains.

The apparel combines natural fibers – such as hemp or merino wool – with synthetic materials, providing natural-feeling comfort next to the skin that is designed to feel at home, anywhere outdoors. The collection is also designed for outdoor adventurers who feel drawn to the mountains and nature.

“We wanted to create something particularly fresh and new, that differentiates itself from traditional trekking equipment and to deepen Salewa’s approach to this activity,” said Leonardo Fumagalli, design coordinator of apparel, Salewa. “It’s characterized by a strong aesthetic and modern design with a lifestyle look inspired by the urban scene. Nevertheless, at the same time all the styles are built to ensure functionality and adaptability in wild, natural and mountain environments. The earthy colors and natural fibers reflect the strong connection to nature that underpin both the collection and the brand.”

Salewa reinforces this connection between urban trends and sustainable, resource-saving approaches by deploying its proprietary fabric Alpine Hemp. In addition to hemp, the apparel styles in the collection feature further natural and sustainable fibers, such as merino wool or the newly introduced, bio-based Sorona polymer fibers in combination with synthetic yarns. The result is a unique long-lasting softness next to skin and thermoregulation comfort.

The new collection includes the Puez Hemp/Durastretch 2/1 hybrid jacket and the Puez Hemp/Durastretch 2/1 hybrid pant, a versatile outfit made with Salewa’s proprietary Alpine Hemp fabrics. Both the jacket and pants were designed for trekking adventures all over the world and built to ensure functionality and adaptability in wild, natural environments and urban scenarios.

The Alpine Hemp main fabric is made with a blend of hemp fibers and offers a natural performance with exceptional strength and high breathability combined with a unique texture. The hybrid woven construction blends hemp with bio-based Sorona responsible biopolymer fibers made from corn starch for long-last enhanced softness and thermoregulation comfort, while Durastretch panels provide additional abrasion resistance and freedom of movement.

The new collection also includes the Puez 40+5L backpack, which is made from rugged, lightweight 210- denier Robic ripstop nylon and textured 330- denier Kobra ballistic nylon. This pack offers ergonomically-shaped, padded split shoulder straps and an adjustable back length and a customized fit, as well as a roll-top opening and deep offset Infinity double-zip to allow quick front, side and bottom access to all sections of the main compartment, including to items that might be buried at the bottom of your pack.

Salewa’s new Progressive Trekking collection also includes the Puez Knit Mid Powertex Boot, the first hiking boot with Salewa Alpine hemp.
