OWAA Names Speakers for Conference

The Outdoor Writers Association of America (OWAA) announced a diverse lineup of speakers for its annual conference, May 21-23, at the Ramkota Hotel in Casper, Wyoming.

The conference will feature: Rue Mapp, CEO of black outdoor leadership non-profit Outdoor Afro; George Abeyta, teacher, coach and member of the Eastern Shoshone Tribe; and a panel discussion with BIPOC adventurers Chad Brown, Mic Crenshaw, and Dudley Edmondson about their expedition to Atigun Gorge in Alaska’s Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.

Many of OWAA’s speakers are long-time members of the association, bringing years of knowledge and experience from a range of backgrounds to present an educational opportunity for all attendees.

In addition to those listed above, this year’s featured speakers include:

  • Steve Duda – Patagonia’s managing editor for fly fishing
  • J. Box – New York Times bestselling author of 30 novels
  • Christopher Kennedy – Missouri Dept. of Conservation, Inclusion and Diversity
  • Philip Smith – President, The National African American Gun Association
  • Patrick Lope – President, Asian Pacific American Gun Owners Association
