One week remains (May 15) to register for the Outdoor Writers Association of America (OWAA)‘s Field Fest. This event – which takes place July 7-11 at Carnegie Hotel in Johnson City, Tennessee – offers a hybrid conference, marketplace and regional familiarization tour program.
Also included is an editor’s panel with:
- Miles DeMott, (managing editor, Covey Rise and Bourbon Plus)
- Emily Buck (director of communications and outreach, Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency)
- Carmen Gentile (founder and editor-at-large, Postindustrial)
- Sarah Riddell (Blue Ridge Country)
Field Fest will also include local tour programs, including:
- Trout fishing on the Watauga River
- Whitewater rafting on the Nolichucky River
- Guided stand-up paddle board tour, creek walk and wildlife tracking demonstration
- Fly fishing the South Holston River
- Disc golf, hiking the Trout Lily trail and visiting Cherokee Lake via canoe or kayak
Other highlights include local tours and dine around opportunities, a marketplace-structured networking event, post trip to Knoxville and presentations from Marvin Cash, Maayan Gordon, Howard Fox and others.
