Ortovox Recall 3+ Avalanche Transceivers

Feedback from our Ortovox’s Safety Academy Partners revealed that, in some rare situations, temporary disruption of the transmission function may occur on its 3+ avalanche transceivers running software version 2.1. The reason for the disruption is a software error, and it can lead to prolongation of the search process. In turn, Ortovox announced a pre-cautionary recall of its 3+ avalanche transceivers running software version 2.1, no matter what color.

There have been no known accidents caused by the software error, yet evices affected by the recall may no longer be used without the required software update to version 2.2. Ortovox 3+ devices running software versions 1.0, 1.1, 2.0, 2.2 and all other ORTOVOX avalanche transceivers (S1+, S1, ZOOM) are not affected.

The error was identified and rectified in extensive internal tests. The new software version 2.2 will rectify the error. The recall will start on May 25, and is free of charge.

From May 25 onwards user will find a form on the Ortovox website they can use to send in their 3+ running software version 2.1 free of charge. Ortovox will install the new software version 2.2 return the 3+ as soon as possible.
