Oboz Names Japanese Distributor

Following the announcement of a new UK distributors earlier this year, Oboz footwear is further expanding its international distribution with a new partner for Japan. ITOCHU Corporation will launch Oboz’s line of outdoor footwear to the retail market starting in Fall 2014.

“Japan represents a significant growth opportunity for Oboz,” Oboz president and founder John Connelly said.

ITOCHU Corporation has a 150-year history as a trading group in many industries. In outdoor, the company recently distributed Keen footwear for nine years and currently distributes Marmot. Other sporting goods and lifestyle brands currently managed by ITOCHU include Converse, LeSportsac, Penfield and Outdoor Products.

“We are currently showing Oboz products to retail buyers and the feedback is very positive,” said Masaaki Wada, who will manage Oboz’ distribution in Japan. “People say the fit is very good and they can see Oboz’ strengths in its technical design and construction.  They recognize that Oboz footwear is designed and built by outdoor enthusiasts.”

Oboz is currently available in North America, Mexico, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Australia, New Zealand, and starting in fall 2014, the United Kingdom.
