Moosejaw Debuts Moosejaw ‘More’ Collection; Celebrates 30 Years

Moosejaw, a leading retailer specializing in outdoor gear and apparel, is marking 30 years of serving outdoor consumers by blending its sense of humor and inclusive educational product approach. Building on the successful launch last week of the Moosejaw “More” Outerwear Collection for Walmart, bringing performance outerwear to broader audiences, the company has introduced new programs streamlining the process for making the right product choices: Gear Rental, enabling consumers to rent gear and have it shipped to their adventurous destination; and online Gear Wizards, experts in camping and backpacking that give personalized advice.

The Moosejaw More Collection for Walmart includes men’s and women’s fabric shells made with 100 percent recycled polyester and leverages Moosejaw’s outerwear expertise to deliver more warmth and performance for less, ranging in prices from $60 to $134.

The target customer is anyone who wants to stay warm and comfortable outdoors, whether it is a newcomer participating in outdoor activities for the first time or avid outdoor enthusiasts. The Moosejaw More Collection’s range of inclusive sizing, lower price points, increased distribution, high-quality fabrics, and performance are designed to encourage consumers of all shapes/sizes and walks of life to actively get outside, while still delivering on the outdoor aficionados’ expectations.

Specific pieces of the More Collection have additional sustainability attributes. For example, all the down filling in the collection is Responsible Down Standard (RDS) certified, the synthetic insulation is 100 percent recycled polyester, and seven of the 12 styles have a lining made from 100 percent recycled polyester.

Moosejaw’s designers engineered jackets with the ideal active fit for winter weather using multiple panels, seams and optimized sizing for ease of movement, enabling all-day comfort for hitting the slopes or walking pups. The generous insulation, adjustable cuffs and hoods, seam-sealing and hand-warmer pockets provide ample protection in even the most brutally cold conditions.

The women’s assortment has six pieces in sizes XS-3XL: the Cozy Down Insulator Vest ($60) and Cozy Down Insulator Jacket ($75), both available in cerulean, flamingo, black and anchor; the Hooded Parka ($124) in black and midnight with a fur lining, and the Hooded Insulated Jacket ($110) in snow, midnight and black; and the Hooded Mid-length Down Jacket ($90) in midnight, cerulean, flamingo, and black, with the Insulated Ski and Snow Pant ($75) in sizes 2-18, 2-18 short.

The men’s collection includes six pieces: the Down Insulator Vest ($70) in black and midnight, and the Down Insulator Jacket ($85); the Hooded Softshell Jacket ($70) and the Hooded Insulated Jacket ($120) in anchor, black, midnight and walnut; the Hooded Down Parka ($134) in black, walnut and anchor with a fur-lined hood, and the Insulated Ski and Snow Pant ($85) in anchor, black, midnight and walnut. Men’s top size range is available in S-3XL, with tall jackets and long pant sizes in M-2XL

The Moosejaw More Outerwear Collection is available at 150 Walmart stores and Walmart.com, as well as all Moosejaw store locations and on Moosejaw.com.

In the meantime, let the anniversary begin!

“For over 30 years, we’ve worked hard to bring the magic of the outdoors to as many people as possible with a bit of irreverence,” said Eoin Comerford, CEO of Moosejaw. “We never take ourselves too seriously, but we are serious about making sure our customers, regardless of their skill level, have all the information they need to make the right product choices for an enjoyable outdoor experience.

“With an entirely new genre of consumers discovering the solace of the outdoors for the first time, our messaging has to be easy to understand,” Comerford continued. “This is the key to our success in growing our community while doing things that are good for the planet and just plain fun.”

Moosejaw’s gear rental program ships to any destination in the continental United States, expanding rental availability to outdoor lovers not close to a gear rental store. Outbound and return shipping is free for most rentals.

Online access to high-quality gear rentals includes top brands such as Big Agnes, Kelty, Marmot, and MSR. Customers have the option to rent by categories such as tents, sleeping bags and backpacks, or they may choose to rent a fully customized package designed for a specific activity including car camping, comfort camping, standard backpacking or ultralight backpacking. The program minimizes the hassle of renting gear with the convenience to complete the entire process online while providing high-touch support from Gear Wizards.

Rentals of more than $49 are shipped directly to the customer’s home or destination at no charge; at the end of the rental, customers ship back, also at no charge. Cancellations are free up to 10 days before the rental window starts. The gear rental program helps to reduce the overproduction of equipment by encouraging gear sharing and re-use.

To reward consumers for doing good and keep them coming back, each rental earns 10 percent back in Moosejaw Reward Dollars that can be applied for future rentals or buying gear and apparel for any adventure. To help renters new to the outdoors, each rental includes a free consultation with a Moosejaw Gear Wizard – a seasoned expert in camping and backpacking who works at Moosejaw’s retail locations. The Gear Wizards provide advice on choosing the right gear, packing lists and planning tips to help ensure the renter’s first outdoor adventure will not be their last.

Moosejaw’s 30th-anniversary celebration kicks off with a highlight video of the past 30 years and 30 product giveaways. Consumers may enter to win on the Moosejaw website where winners are picked at random and may win a piece from the new Moosejaw “More” Outerwear Collection. Moosejaw will also ask customers to show their older gear with the Moosejaw logo of years past on social media.

From logoed shirts and hoodies to the iconic summit flags, Moosejaw will send those customers new products.

“It has been the absolute best adventure,” Comerford said. “Our humor has connected us with a younger audience and has played a key role in introducing them to the outdoors. By leaning into our brand, we can impart a message that spending time outside should be comfortable both physically and mentally. I am hopeful for what it is to come for the outdoor community because there is a new mindset of inclusivity. We have a long way to go, but people’s hearts are in the right place. If we want more people to take a walk in the woods or go on a neighborhood hike, we have to continue to make progress.”
