Mahoney’s Outfitters Joins Grassroots

Grassroots Outdoor Alliance announced that Mahoney’s Outfitters has joined its organization as a Retail Member. Mahoney’s was founded in 1960 by Harold and Irene Mahoney at the corner of Sunset Drive and Knob Creek Rd in Johnson City, Tenn. It started as a simple Army/Navy store, but eventually evolved into a premier outdoor store that it is today.

In 1970 when son Dan returned from the Army, Mahoney’s began its evolution into the outdoor store it is today. Dan added sporting categories for clothing, footwear, hunting, and camping. In 1980 Dan’s wife Katie joined the business and took over the management of the ladies department. In 1992 Dan’s son Sean joined the business.

Mahoney’s will be attending the Grassroots Early Summit being held from June 9 – 12, 2014 in Loveland, Colorado.

Grassroots Outdoor Alliance includes 48 independent outdoor retailers with nearly 100 doors.
