Grassroots Outdoor Alliance announced that The Mountaineer, located in Keene Valley, N.Y., has joined the organization as a retail member. An iconic outdoor specialty store, The Mountaineer has been a purveyor of fine mountaineering and outdoor equipment since 1975.
Serving serious mountaineers, expeditionists, hikers, fly fisherman, campers, rock and ice climbers, trail runners and backcountry skiers, The Mountaineer is famous for its annual festivals (including the Adirondack Backcountry Ski Festival and the Adirondack International Mountaineering Festival), which draw hundreds of participants to meet featured guest athletes who entertain with tales of climbing adventures, take advantage of instructional clinics taught by visiting climbers and local guides, demo gear, and have a chance to gather with the climbing and backcountry skiing communities for an exciting weekend.
“The Mountaineer is flattered to be invited to join Grassroots, is excited about getting to know and working with the other members and working with its vendors within this new framework,” said Vinny McClelland, one of the primary owners of The Mountaineer. “We can’t help but be impressed already with Grassroots and Roanne’s leadership, organizational skills, persistence and gentle persuasive talents.”
The Mountaineer will be attending the June Grassroots Early Show being held from June 10 – 13, 2013 in Ogden, Utah.
