Geartrade to Feature ORTOVOX ‘UnNew’ Gear, Apparel

For those gearing up for fall adventures, Geartrade, the outdoor marketplace for “UnNew” gear, is featuring a selection of apparel and packs from ORTOVOX, a creator of performance mountain apparel and equipment.

The latest arrivals of ORTOVOX at the Geartrade warehouse are part of a relationship that sends sales samples and closeout products to be re-sold through the online marketplace. By partnering with Geartrade, ORTOVOX is lengthening the lifespan for its products, reducing the carbon footprint created by new gear purchases, and increasing its brand market share among active outdoor enthusiasts.

“We used to sell our samples at our twice-annual parking lot sale. During the pandemic, however, we needed a safer and more convenient way for our flock (a.k.a., our local fans) to access our sample sale. GEARTRADE allows us to do that and introduces our brand to a customer that, like ORTOVOX, values quality and durability,” said Greg Mears, ORTOVOX Inside Sales Manager. “GEARTRADE is very easy to work with, professionally represents the brand, and is genuinely stoked about our product.”

Used gear purchases and sales are growing in popularity, based on Geartrade internal metrics. In 2021, the company resold 45,590 pieces of outdoor gear; and in the first two quarters of 2022, the pace of reselling has grown 38 percent.

“ORTOVOX is a true leader in the outdoor industry when it comes to making exceptionally durable performance pieces while also holding themselves to the highest climate standards,” said Geartrade President Aaron Provine.

ORTOVOX is a four-season mountain brand headquartered in Germany, known as an expert in avalanche rescue equipment and wool apparel designed specifically for ski touring, freeriding, mountaineering, Alpine climbing and Alpine touring.

Since its founding in 1980, ORTOVOX has stood for a sophisticated approach to protection and comfort in the mountains, characterized by the responsible treatment of people and nature. Going into the 2022/2023 winter season, the entire ORTOVOX collection will be climate neutral.
