Cotopaxi Welcomes Yang as Newest Board Member

Cotopaxi has added industry veteran Wendy Yang, president of Decker’s Brands’ Performance Lifestyle Group, to its board. Yang was previously an executive at New Balance, Timberland and Reebok. Yang also serves as a board member of Camber Outdoors, the nonprofit supporting workplace inclusion in active-outdoor industries.

Cotopaxi has seen year-over-year growth of 80% and is expanding not only their D2C business, but has also been aggressively growing their wholesale footprint and their own brand-owned retail stores, adding two additional retail stores next month in Seattle, WA and Orem, UT. As such the brand is looking for strategic and valued partners to continue its success and reach a wide audience of potential brand advocates.

“We’ve concluded a disciplined year-long search for a board member to assist Cotopaxi as we enter our next stage of growth,” said Cotopaxi Founder and CEO Davis Smith. “Wendy is a world-class brand builder and a distinguished leader, and we couldn’t be more excited to welcome her to our board.”

Wendy will add an integral growth strategy perspective and experience to Cotopaxi’s robust board, and she offered, “I’m thrilled to join the Cotopaxi board. I’ve been an avid fan of what Davis and his team have created and am excited to join the board with an eye towards a future of more ‘doing good’.”

Wendy has built multiple global omni-channel consumer brands and has led and grown exceptional teams. She understands the power of a direct-to-consumer brand while also understanding the importance of developing strategic retail relationships, all aspects that are relevant as Cotopaxi looks to continue the rapid growth of their brand.
