ASTM to Host Meeting on Recycled Vulcanized Rubber Standards

ASTM International will hold an organizational meeting to potentially create a new technical committee that develops voluntary consensus standards for the recycled vulcanized rubber industry. This includes both rubber and carbon black and has many practical applications including use in plastics, strengthening concrete, and infill for playgrounds.

This online meeting is Wednesday, October 5 2016, at 10:00am EST. Industry stakeholders and other parties interested in charting a path towards standardization for this industry are welcome to attend.

Consensus standards could set a bar for this growing industry resulting in high-quality practices and products used worldwide.

The objectives of the meeting are to:

 bring a range of industry experts together;

 identify specific standards needs;

 determine if ASTM International should formally launch a new activity; and, if so,

 develop and approve title, scope, and structure of a new technical committee.

The meeting will include an overview of ASTM International; background on why this standards activity is being considered; and a review of areas to be considered for standards development. For more information and to register, click here or contact Joe Koury at +1.610.832.9804 or jkoury@astm.org.
