Atomic Adds Backcountry Legend to Athlete Roster

Atomic, a leader in the design and manufacturing of premium winter sports equipment, has added big mountain freeride skier Chris Rubens to its roster of world-class athletes. With the partnership, Rubens will use Atomic skis, boots, bindings and protection exclusively for the 2022/23 winter season.

A globally recognized freeride backcountry skier, Rubens is dedicated and passionate about skiing and spends as much time as possible in the backcountry every winter, specializing in putting beautiful lines down mountains for film and photo projects. Also recognized for tinkering and re-engineering products to better suit his needs, Rubens is known for his contribution to mainstream product development.

“[Rubens’] well-rounded skillset and depth of knowledge will assist in the continued evolution of our wildly versatile Backland products. Chris will be working directly with our product managers and HQ teams to drive innovation across all aspects of the touring segment,” said Noah Wallace with Atomic Sports Marketing.

Before joining Atomic, Rubens has spent past winters collaborating with Sherpas Cinema, Matchstick Productions and Blank Collective. Between ski adventures, Rubens resides in Revelstoke, British Columbia, which provides a backyard of endless opportunities for his mountain pursuits.

“Not only is Chris an exceptional skier and product innovator, he’s also a member of POW Canada and the Canadian Avalanche Association, and we look forward to working with and learning from him,” Wallace said.
