Snow Peak Renovating Campground on Washington Coast

Snow Peak, an outdoor company has broken ground at the Long Beach Peninsula to bring its vision for what camping can look like in North America.

“We’ve disconnected ourselves from the natural world in many parts of our lives and spending time in nature with others is one way to reconnect with what really makes us human,” said Matt Liddle, chief operating officer of Snow Peak USA.

The 25-acre site in Long Beach has grassy, wooded and wetlands areas, and it has served as a campground previously. Water and power hookups and bathrooms from the old campsite still exist, but Snow Peak will provide major upgrades.

Liddle said campers will be shuttled in and out of the area by special carts, as regular motor vehicles will be prohibited.

The site includes 75 campsites that will be used mostly for tents as well as some cabins. Snow Peak specializes in outdoor gear, so people without camping equipment will be able to rent it on site.

The grounds also will have a large onsen – hot water soaking pool – along with a sauna and showers.

Snow Peak said it also will restore part of the wetlands at the site as it helps to create the natural, luxurious camping experience.

The site is expected to be open for the 2023 camping season.
