Zeal Unveils Re-Shred Recycled Goggle Initiative

Zeal Optics announced the Re-Shred goggle initiative. This commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility in winter sports eyewear focuses on using a minimum of 70 percent post-consumer recycled materials in all of its goggle frames and straps.

Under the banner of “Reduce. Reuse. Re-Shred,” the brand aims to address the evolving challenges posed by climate change, advocating for the protection of the places we live and recreate while fostering a deeper connection between powder-seekers and the outdoors by reducing goggle and other equipment footprints.

“With our Re-Shred initiative, Zeal Optics is not just redefining eyewear; we’re rewriting the narrative of sustainability in winter sports,” said Mike Lewis, Senior Director of Global Marketing. “As a brand rooted in a love of the outdoors, we believe that every innovation should echo our dedication to protecting wild places and we’re excited to announce these new materials are in all of our goggles as of this season.”

As part of Zeal Optics’ commitment to continually reduce the footprint of all its products and processes, Re-Shred includes several key measures to meet with commitment with its ’23/’24 goggles and beyond:

• Eco-Friendly Goggle Components: Zeal Optics’ goggle frames are crafted from 100 percent recycled TPU and PC/ABS, demonstrating the brand’s dedication to utilizing sustainable materials.
• Recycled PET Goggle Straps and Bags: Zeal’s goggle straps consist of a minimum of 70 percent recycled PET sourced from recycled water bottles.
• Sustainable Packaging Solutions: Zeal has eliminated all plastic from its goggle packaging to minimize waste.
• FSC-Certified Paper and Soy Ink: In an effort to support responsible forest management, Zeal Optics utilizes FSC-Certified paper for its catalogs and printed materials.

The Re-Shred program marks the culmination of more than 10 years of work to bring Zeal’s goggle materials in-line with those of its sunglasses, which use plant-based, recycled or recyclable materials across all of its sunglass frames and Ellume Polarized lenses.
