woom Launches Electric Bike for Kids

woom, a kids’ bicycle company, has introduced its first electric bike (e-bike) for kids in the United States. The company said its woom UP is the” most premium kids’ e-bike available.”

The bike uses a combination of its FAZUA drive system, SRAM NX drivetrain, air suspension fork, hydraulic disc brakes, and woom’s superlight aluminum frame. It’s the only kids’ e-bike that features the FAZUA E-motor, making it the lightest mid-drive integrated e-bike built for children.

Recommended for kids who already have experience riding bikes, the woom UP enables young riders to go farther and bike more frequently through its pedal-assist electric motor, greatly expanding their riding opportunities, from technical singletrack trails to casual family adventures, on- and off-road.

The premium 250-watt FAZUA drive system enables pedal-assist in three customizable settings, up to 12 mph. Riders can download the free Fazua Rider app, which gives the flexibility to fine-tune the power modes, monitor the motor’s data (power output, remaining range, etc.), and record all the stats during a ride, including distance, speed, and elevation. The compact and lightweight combined motor and battery unit can also be easily removed for the option to ride without pedal assist.

With a mountain bike foundation and geometry, the woom UP comes with an easy-to-operate SRAM NX gearing system. The SRAM NX has 11 gears and a wide gear ratio. A high-quality air suspension fork offers adjustable compression and rebound damping to be tuned for the terrain and the day’s conditions, plus its lock-out function is a bonus on the climbs or flat roads. Easy-to-modulate disc brakes provide maximum stopping power in every situation, including steep slopes and wet conditions.

Like all woom bikes, the woom UP is designed top-to-bottom with kids in mind: from the electric motor and app, to the superlight aluminum frame and youth-specific geometry, child-friendly diameter grips, brake levers suitable for small hands, and shorter cranks than adult bikes.

E-bikes have become a popular alternative mode of transportation, replacing short car trips and providing a unique way to navigate through local neighborhoods and cities. And with its superb off-road capabilities, the woom UP expands riding options for families, as kids can ride right alongside their parents on longer trail or gravel rides, they may not have been able to join previously. Furthermore, the woom UP provides an alternative to lifts or car shuttles for resort-style, high mountain riding.

The woom UP is offered in two sizes:

  • woom UP 5 features 24-inch tires, and fits kids approximately 7 to 11 years old (50’’ – 57” in height). MSRP $3,599 USD
  • woom UP 6 features 26-inch tires, made for kids approximately 10 to 14 years old (55” – 65” in height). MSRP $3,749 USD

Both models are available at us.woombikes.com, with Affirm financing options. Live pre- and post-purchase consultations by woom product specialists are complimentary for customers to learn more about the UP and support the assembly, set-up, and any questions about woom’s e-bike.
