Ust Sponsors Veteran’s Quest to Summit Colorado’s 14ers

Ust, which has been creating survival, camping and outdoor equipment since 1936, has announced its sponsorship of Evan Gill, who’s on a mission to become the first African-American veteran to summit all Colorado 14ers – mountain peaks with an elevation of at least 14,000 feet.

Gill’s effort is to raise awareness for Vibe Tribe Adventures (VTA), a Denver-based minority-women-owned 501c3 non-profit that encourages black women, men and urban youth to explore the great outdoors, practice conservation and educate on environmental science, health and wellness.

He is following in the footsteps of Michael Richardson, who in 1995 became the first African-American to summit all of Colorado’s 14ers.

Gill, 27, has bagged 28 peaks so far and has 30 more to go. Born and raised in Baltimore, he moved to Colorado in 2017 with his wife and two boys. He served in the army as a 74D Chemical Biological Radiological Nuclear Specialist.

Ust’s sponsorship includes financial assistance and gear to help facilitate achieving his goal. Ust also will be encouraging its audience to donate Gill and to Vibe Tribe Adventures, via a donation page located at https://www.vibetribeadventures.org/evan-gill.
