USOCR Expands Membership Benefits

United States Obstacle Course Racing (USOCR), the national association dedicated to the sustained growth of obstacle course racing, today introduced its 2016-2017 benefit package for individual members, which now include the sport’s first-ever national ranking system, as well as exclusive access and discounts for high-end race gear, interactive community tools and individual race-day support. USOCR’s complete package of racer benefits are provided to members who purchase an annual membership of $49 at https://usocr.com/membership.

USOCR developed its 2016-17 benefit package through direct feedback from racers and race organizers, said the group. For 2016-17, the package begins with a USOCR Welcome Kit, USOCR jersey, USOCR lanyard, USOCR decal, and USOCR member card which accesses benefits from partner retailers, events and expos.

“Since day one, USOCR has been committed to creating an engaging and exciting home base for avid obstacle course racers,” said Sam Mansfield, USOCR president and CEO. “Our carefully crafted package of member services make it easier and more enjoyable to participate in events, to be a part of the national OCR community and to share those experiences with friends and family.”

USOCR members also will have access to the USOCR online store, a curated assortment of more than 50 brands including high-performance apparel, gear, technology and nutrition. Featuring member-only discounts and early availability, the list of supporting brands in the USOCR store includes Inov-8, Salomon, Hydraquiver, Clinch Gear, CW-X, Suunto, Jaybird, Hammer, Vitamix, Nuun and others. New products and brands will be added every 90 days, based on input and direct requests from throughout the USOCR member community.

“The family of brands available on the USOCR store are a reflection of OCR’s continued growth and national appeal,” said Shera Collins, USOCR Director of Business Development. “These are companies who are choosing to support the OCR community, and we are proud to support them.”

USOCR members also will be included in the USOCR national ranking system. Created to evaluate all racers with precision and uniformity, the USOCR national ranking system blends conventional timing with an interpretive multiplier based on course difficulty, using a mathematic formula inspired by the well-understood golf handicap system. To date, more than 150 events around the U.S. and Canada are supported in the system.

“USOCR’s national ranking system was created as a way to raise awareness of the sport and its national participant base, to increase connectivity among the athletes, and to create a foundation of information for race organizers,” added Mansfield.

At USOCR.com, online community benefits will include individual online profile pages featuring trophy and medal showcase cabinets; a unique badging system for OCR achievements; the ability to share race history with friends and family; and unlimited access to USOCR’s intuitive, up-to-date and interactive race calendar.

Additional individual USOCR benefits include race-day insurance coverage when participating in USOCR sanctioned events; race cancellation and race withdrawal protection; personalized offers and discounts on select races; and personalized offers on apparel, equipment and training aids.
