Two Nonprofits Named as ‘Stand Up Partners’ Recipients

Darby Communications and Status Forward announced the recipients of the 2021 Stand Up Initiative. During 2021, the agencies will partner with Friends of Dupont Forest (Dupont State Recreational Forest in Western North Carolina) and Waterside Workshops (in Berkeley, California).

Darby Communications and Status Forward will donate 100 hours of public relations and marketing services to each nonprofit.

Launched by Darby Communications in 2016, the Stand Up Initiative provides pro bono PR and marketing services to environmental nonprofits. It was expanded this year to include nonprofits working to promote diversity, equity and inclusion in the outdoors.

Past recipients include the San Juan Mountains Association, Nantahala-Pisgah Forest Partnership, Bee City USA, Grand Staircase Escalante Partners and more.

Beginning immediately, Darby Communications and Status Forward will team up with the Friends of DuPont on its Share the Trails campaign. This campaign will help to address user conflict and harmonization on the trails, since DuPont State Recreational Forest attracts more than 1 million hikers, mountain bikers, trail runners, equestrians and other visitors from around the world.

The agencies will lend a mix of social media assessment and strategy, website and wayfinding design support to help Friends of Dupont convey the “Share the Trails” messaging to the forest’s visitors.

In the second half of 2021, Darby Communications and Status Forward will provide a mix of website redevelopment, social media assessment and strategy and email marketing to Waterside Workshops, a nonprofit which provides job training, outdoor recreation and holistic wraparound support for at-risk youth in the Bay Area.
