TGR’s ‘Edge of the Earth’ Earns 2 Emmy Nominations

Teton Gravity Research (TGR), a global leader in action and adventure lifestyle media, announced its documentary series Edge of The Earth, produced in collaboration with HBO, has been nominated for two Sports Emmy Awards. TGR debuted the immersive adventure four-part series last July.

The film documents four different groups of elite action-adventure athletes on unique, never-before-accomplished missions within undiscovered realms of nature.

The series is nominated for Outstanding Camera Work – Long Form as well as Outstanding Promotional Announcement.

Directed by Steve Jones and Todd Jones and produced by Drew Holt, Edge of the Earth was filmed out on the glaciers of Alaska, in the remote mountains of Kyrgyzstan, along the uninhabited West Coast of South Africa, and deep in the dense jungle of Ecuador.

The nominations reflect the TGR team’s work throughout the entire series, and the nomination for Outstanding Camera Work acknowledges the efforts of the team of cinematographers TGR deployed in the face of daunting conditions.

The nomination for Outstanding Promotional Announcement showcases the creative partnership between TGR and BOND, led by HBO’s marketing team.

Edge of the Earth is available on demand on HBO Max. The Sports Emmy Awards winners will be announced on May 22.

Edge of the Earth is the second collaboration between TGR and HBO that has received critical acclaim following the release of the 2019 film The Final Season. That film, which chronicled the final competitive season for iconic U.S. downhill skier Lindsey Vonn, earned two Sports Emmy nominations, including for Outstanding Camera Work.

In 2016, TGR earned two Sports Emmy nominations for its Outside TV series, Higher.
