Spanish Outdoor Apparel Brand Opens North American Distribution

Ternua, a Spanish brand that designs and produces technical mountaineering, climbing and skiing apparel and outerwear, will now distribute its products in specialty retail stores in North America. This is made possible as a result of a recent merger between Ternua and Lorpen, another Spanish company that makes technical socks and has North American distribution as well as an office based in Toronto, Canada.

Ternua will be offering four categories of outdoor apparel in the U.S. and Canada:

Alpine: Outerwear tested by Spanish mountaineer, Alberto Inurrategi, for use in extreme conditions.

Mountain Ski: new line highly technical and loose-fitting clothing equipped with the latest technologies for a sport that requires great freedom of movement and protection.

Trekking: garments that are designed for both men and women and are ideal for use in cross country trekking, approaches, etc.

Hiking: garments for enjoying mountain walks and make the transition to urban style after a day on the trails for both men and women.

Ternua, which was founded in 1990, will now distribute its outdoor apparel in more than 50 countries throughout Europe, America and Asia. In addition to its national headquarters in Spain, it will share Lorpen’s Toronto office and production facilities in Puebla, Mexico.

Throughout this expansion, Ternua will maintain its strong sustainability philosophy. The company uses only 100% GOTS certified organic cotton, has replaced all DWR C8 water repellent finishes with environmentally friendly DWR C6, feature 100% recycled packaging materials, and is even pioneering the use of recycled down in its garments. Ternua is also Bluesign Certified.
