Sorel Tries Pop-Up Strategy

Columbia Sportswear brand Sorel opened its first-ever seasonal branded retail store, located at 345 W. 14th St. in Manhattan’s Meatpacking District. The new store opened on October 30 and offers Sorel’s extensive range of stylish, protective fall and winter boots through February 2015.

The 3,300 square foot Sorel pop-up shop, will offer key women’s and men’s styles from the Fall and Winter 2014 collection. In addition, customers will find many of Sorel’s iconic winter boots, such as the Caribou and Joan of Arctic.

“Sorel boots are a bold combination of fashion and outdoor and protection and style, which makes the Meatpacking District an ideal location. The store will allow us to explore new territory by giving customers direct access to the largest range of fall and winter boots Sorel has ever offered in a brick and mortar location,” said Tim Boyle, president and CEO, Columbia Sportswear.

The shop draws design inspiration from Sorel’s fashion-meets-utilitarian aesthetic, says the company. The store features stark contrasts of black and white, “allowing the rich textures and tones of Sorel footwear to take center stage. Sleek and modern forms, with a focus on structure, create a dynamic, brand-defining Sorel retail experience.”
