SOG Battles Unauthorized Online Sales

In an effort to strengthen relationships with retailers and protect its brand, SOG Knives and Tools said it is embarking on a coordinated campaign to shut down unauthorized online sellers of SOG products. SOG is initiating legal proceedings against illicit online retailers, having already issued cease and desist letters to the most nefarious unauthorized resellers. Additional sanctions and legal action are being pursued to block all offenders from continuing to operate.

“SOG has made a strategic decision to protect the SOG brand and the specialty retailers who support the brand,” said Chas Fisher, SOG’s vice president of sales. “These rogue sellers of SOG-labeled product are doing a disservice to the consumer and are damaging the SOG brand by selling possibly counterfeit product and offering none of the warranty and support for which SOG is well known.”

Two years ago, SOG launched a two-pronged initiative aimed to tighten its distribution channels and deliver better enforcement of its minimum advertised price (MAP) policy. This latest step is designed to eliminate disreputable online resellers who are deceiving the consumer with possibly counterfeit and un-warrantied SOG product.

“We will vigorously explore all available remedies to put these shady resellers out of business in order to safeguard the consumer, support our authorized retailers and protect the SOG brand,” said Fisher.
