REI Co-op opens its Huntington Station, N.Y., store on Nov. 3. The outdoor retailer invites the community to a three-day celebration filled with outdoor brands, nonprofit partners, an afternoon social and more.
Located at Huntington Shopping Center on Walt Whitman Road, the 21,100 square-foot store features an assortment of outdoor gear and apparel for camping, hiking, cycling, running, fitness, paddling and more.
A specialty bike shop will be staffed with certified mechanics to tune or repair equipment to help cyclists, and a ski and snowboard shop will mount bindings and tune gear so riders are ready to hit the slopes.
Each day of the grand opening, REI’s doors will open at 10 a.m. with giveaways available while supplies last. Community members who join the morning festivities will enjoy free Favor Coffee and receive an exclusive camp mug with a donation to Friends of the Bay, an organization that works to
preserve, protect and restore the Oyster Bay/Cold Spring Harbor Estuary and the surrounding watershed.
An REI outdoor social will take place from 1 to 5 p.m. each day of the grand opening featuring music, nonprofits and outdoor brands including Arc’teryx, Adidas, Altra, Black Diamond, Brooks, Cotopaxi, Gregory, Hydro Flask, Keen, Kuat, Nikwax, Mountain House, Nuun, Oboz, Osprey, Silca and Smartwool.
Also joining the celebration will be regional nonprofits working to increase outdoor experiences for all people including Black Girls Do Bike and Concerned Long Island Mountain Bicyclists (CLIMB).
Once open, REI Huntington Station will be the seventh store in the Tri-State region.
