Purgatory Promises Shorter Lift Lines, Free Skiing for Kids Under 12

New for winter 2021/22, Purgatory’s free season pass for kids will be available for ages 12 and younger. Power Kids is the only season pass in North America that grants free unlimited skiing and riding to all kids ages 12 and under, no blackout days or purchase required.

It’s easy to escape to Southwest Colorado. In 2021, the Durango-La Plata County Airport will offer more winter getaway routes than ever with the addition of two new airlines — Delta and Frontier — plus new non-stop service to Salt Lake City and Las Vegas.

As part of a multi-year capital improvement plan, Purgatory will complete significant upgrades for snowmaking and lift maintenance, plus trail improvements and new dining offerings to enhance the guest experience for the 2021/22 ski season.

Purgatory is tucked away between Durango and Silverton in the San Juan Mountains, carved by streams and glaciers thousands of years ago. Purgatory is characterized by steep tree skiing and wide-open cruisers with stunning views of Engineer Mountain, Twilight Peaks and the West Needles Mountain range.

Known as one of Colorado’s most family-friendly ski resorts, Purgatory offers more than 1,600 acres of skiable terrain, 105 trails, 11 lifts, multiple terrain parks and a vertical drop of 2,029 feet.

The gateway to the San Juan backcountry, Purgatory Snowcat Adventures is Colorado’s largest guided snowcat operation covering 35,000 acres of terrain featuring rolling glades to wide-open bowls, cliffs, chutes, gullies and trees.
