Outdoor Gear Builders Announces 2021 Get in Gear Fest

Outdoor Gear Builders, the first gear builder association in the outdoor industry, is celebrating its eighth year of collaborating to create exceptional outdoor gear and experiences with a focus on responsible manufacturing, cutting edge innovation and economic growth in Western North Carolina.

After canceling the 2020 Get in Gear Fest due to COVID-19 restrictions, the association has announced an in-person festival has been scheduled for10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (ET), Saturday, Sept. 25, at Camp Rockmont in Black Mountain.

The location will allow attendees to test gear on the trail and water, meet representatives and makers from more than 60 outdoor companies, purchase gear on-site, and be a part of the local outdoor industry community.

Camp Rockmont, situated on hundreds of acres of pristine land in Black Mountain, is on the site of the historic Black Mountain College, which was open in the 1940s and ‘50s.

With miles of trails, a centrally located lake for paddling, and open meadows, the area is ideal for the return of the Get in Gear Fest. A family-friendly event, the festival will have music, food trucks, beer and other beverages, and limited overnight lodging opportunities, in addition to the Outdoor Gear Builder exhibitors.

“We couldn’t be more excited to return for the 7th annual Get in Gear Fest in a location that allows attendees to really ‘get in gear’,” said Andy Williamson, executive director of Outdoor Gear Builders. “To be able to celebrate the outdoor industry with our community and OGB members in-person and on Camp Rockmont’s beautiful grounds is a great way to kick off the fall outdoor season.”

Since 2013, Outdoor Gear Builders has grown to more than 60 members with the mission to cultivate, connect, and support the community of outdoor industry professionals in Western North Carolina. Part of the $28 billion outdoor industry of the state, OGB members include a variety of outdoor industry-focused businesses from manufacturers and nonprofits to retailers, outfitter, and service providers.
