Outdoor Apparel Startup Builds Gear to Last

Outdoor apparel startup, Livsn Designs, has begun production of its Hi Wool fleece and Flex Canvas pants after successfully pre-selling $78,579 of its debut products to 511 backers using a Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign. Though a newcomer to the outdoor industry, Livsn is built on the classic foundations of premium-quality products, responsive customer service and an honest warranty, said the company.

The brand describes its philosophy as “chasing an experience-driven life, not the accumulation of stuff,” according to company founder Andrew Gibbs-Dabney.

“We’re making clothing for people who don’t want to own a lot of clothes; for people who want to whittle their belongings down to a few high-quality items they can take care of and will last them a lifetime,” said Gibbs-Dabney. “This strategy creates space for living, and our products are purpose-built for adventure.”

The Hi Wool fleece is a breathable, warm and odor-resistant fleece zip-up designed for use as an insulating mid-layer or a mild weather outer layer. It features a Polartec Hi-Loft body with Polartec Powerwool panels on the sides, underarms and neck. The Flex Canvas pants are articulated, reinforced and breathable. Made with a blend of cotton, polyester and spandex, these pants are built for hard use, featuring flat-felled seams, bartacked reinforcements, a gusseted crotch, articulated knees, zip-up rear pockets, a roll-up leg system, YKK zippers and two hidden pockets.

Livsn is offering a “Fair Deal Guarantee” on its goods, covering manufacturer defects for the lifetime of the product, as well as a program to repair or replace items worn down through normal use, at no markup to the customer. The company is looking to partner with a strong group of dedicated specialty outdoor stores for its Fall/Winter 2019 and Spring/Summer 2020 lines.
