Outdoor Apparel Company PAKA Launches Flagship Store

PAKA, a sustainable alpaca clothing brand best known for outdoor apparel, opened its flagship store in Cusco, Peru. This marks PAKA’s first physical retail location. The store is intended to be a meeting place for local guides and international travelers to connect, with a location that honors the brand’s roots. It sits in the heart of Cusco’s historic streets, where the founder first met the artisans who inspired the brand. That original workshop in Cusco remains central to production today.

“Cusco is where this all started, and the community here has always been at the core.” said Kris Cody, company founder and CEO. “We poured our hearts into creating this first physical home to honor that connection, and to create a space for our community to meet up and go exploring together. I think we’re all excited to witness the adventures that come out of it.”

The store features PAKA’s current online offerings, plus other in-store products; a Sebastian’s Coffee Hut cafe (with local baked goods, trail snacks, superfood smoothies and organic Peruvian coffee) and an “adventure zone” for local guides to host trek briefings, workshops and public talks.

PAKA was founded in 2017, while Cody was trekking through Peru and experienced his first alpaca fiber sweater. He would soon train and live alongside local Peruvian weaver Gregoria Mamani before crafting the first edition of PAKA’s Original Hoodie. After launching and successfully growing through the brand’s first Kickstarter campaign, PAKA has operated under a full DTC retail model, until now.

The new flagship store is located at historic Sta. Catalina Angosta 139 – situated just steps away from the Cathedral del Cusco – with an original Inca wall entrance. Store and cafe hours are from 8 AM to 8 PM, daily.
