Outdoor Alliance’s Katie Hawkins Named 2024-25 Obama Foundation Leader

Katie Hawkins, the Outdoor Alliance’s California program director, was named among 205 individuals to join the Obama Foundation Leaders program.

This program trains participants worldwide in leadership development and civic engagement to help build their skills and scale their work across the public, private and nonprofit sectors. Katie will be one of just 100 Leaders participating in the Leaders USA program.

Hawkins specifically spearheads human-powered outdoor recreation advocacy and policy efforts for Outdoor Alliance California. This statewide coalition is part of the national Outdoor Alliance coalition of outdoor recreation advocacy groups. Through this work, she leads organizational efforts to secure conservation goals, advance nature-based solutions to combat the climate crisis and ensure that America’s public lands and waters are safe, welcoming and equitable for all to enjoy.

Hawkins regularly advocates for sustainable outdoor recreation policy, operating from the grassroots level to the highest level of government to forge relationships, shape policy and build coalitions.
